We run Andrew Robson Bridge Courses up to an advanced level. These courses are designed by Andrew and are identical to those taught at his club in Parsons Green. Each level consists of four or eight week courses.

The dates of the courses more or less coincide with those of the school term. Please see News and Events for term dates.

For further details on Andrew Robson and his various courses, please visit www.andrewrobson.co.uk.

Lessons run from between 1.5 hours (beginners & intermediate)) to almost 2 hours for the more advanced. All courses include full notes, tea or coffee as well as membership.

All lessons must be booked and paid for in advance. Your place on the course is not secured until a booking form and full payment is received.

The courses are as follows:

Tuesdays - Red Conventions (was Advanced Plus) - FULL

Course topics (opens in new window)

Aimed at those who came to Advanced Set Hands during the Summer Term

This course features Andrew Robson's favourite conventions as well as some fascinating play and defence themes. Andrew has constructed six brand new deals for each lesson . Highlights include: the Cheat Seat - hitherto closely guarded secret for the expert; and tricky leads - what to lead without a sequence or singleton.

Wednesdays - The Red Course (formerly Advanced) - FULL

Course topics (opens in new window)

Aimed at those who did the Improver Plus course during the Summer Term

A pivotal course in your bridge journey. You already know all the key moves for a good social game, but you’ll want to cover the topics here in order to up your game for duplicate. But don’t be daunted: you’ll begin by learning the wonderful ‘losing trick count’ before going on to learn perhaps the two most useful conventions of them all: ‘fourth suit forcing’ and the ‘unassumimg cue bid’. In short, you’ll love it.

Thursdays - Red Conventions (was Advanced Plus)

Course Topics (opens in new window)

Aimed at those who came to Advanced Set Hands during the Summer Term

An alternative opportunity to do the same as the Tuesday course. If places exist, there is no reason you cannot repeat Tuesday’s lesson or vice versa (all we ask is that you purchase your own drink if you are coming twice in a week)

FULL - Fridays - Essential - FULL

This course is now full

Aimed at those who did the Building on the Basics Course during the Summer Term

Essential is one of Andrew’s most popular courses, covering all basic aspects of the game. Many repeat it – and all say it was worthwhile.

The lessons reinforce what you have already learned in previous courses and adds lots more to improve not only your play,  but your enjoyment of the game.
